Naming the country, not the continent
A development is reported for the country and region where it happens, and never generalised to Africa as a whole.
Reporting, analysis and opinion are marked as different forms so that a reader can tell which one they are reading.
Sources and official figures
Economic and demographic figures carry the institution that produced them and the period they describe.
Where statistics are contested or unavailable, the article says so instead of using the nearest convenient estimate.
Corrections and follow-up
Elections, court rulings and market decisions develop after publication, and articles are updated when the outcome changes.
A factual error can be reported through the contact form, and the correction appears in the article with its update date.
Contributors and their range
Author pages state which countries and sectors a contributor follows, without claiming official access or institutional roles.
Commercial material
Sponsored articles are labelled and never presented as reporting on a government, a company or an institution.
No advertiser obtains coverage of a project, a tender or an investment as if it were independent reporting.
